Hiring Department The Laboratory of Infectious Disease Research Job Description The Laboratory of Infectious Disease Research (LIDR) is a Regional Biocontainment Laboratory located on the MU-Columbia campus. It is a state-of-the art NIAID-supported facility that permits research with infectious agents up to biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) and serves as a critical resource for University of Missouri and collaborating scientists who perform research on infectious diseases. LIDR is seeking an enthusiastic post-doctoral fellow to join the Aerobiology Core at LIDR. The successful individual will participate in exciting projects studying Risk Group 3 bacteria and viruses with the goals of understanding pathogenesis and advancing medical countermeasures. Current areas of research interest include plague, tularemia, arboviruses, and coronaviruses. Collaboration is fundamental to the mission of LIDR and there is the opportunity to work with groups at MU, in addition to academic and industry partners worldwide. Aerobiology experience is not essential as training will be provided – it is much more important that the individual is motivated about the research and willing to learn.

Design and execute cutting edge experiments
Collect data and prepare manuscripts
Collaborate with academic and industry partners Qualifications Ph.D., D.V.M, or M.D. Biomedical science experience, preferably with a microbiology background.
