The Medical Science LiaisonHematology (Myelofibrosis/Rare Disease) is a pivotal field-basedrole that serves as a bridge between the company and the healthcarecommunity. This non-promotional, customer-facing position focuseson advancing clinical practice within an assigned territory toimprove patient outcomes. The MSL brings deep clinical andtherapeutic expertise and market/landscape knowledge to engage withHealthcare Providers (HCPs) and account personnel, in alignmentwith GSK’s strategic medical plans.
Key objectives of the MSLinclude engaging with various community and academic opinionleaders facilitating scientific exchange and serving as a medicalresource. These scientific interactions aim to ensure that patientshave access to GSK medicines, promote their safe and appropriateuse through peer-to-peer discussions, close gaps in unmet medicalneeds, and align with our medical strategies and the needs of theHCPs they engage.
The MSL role is crucial for identifying diseaseand product-related medical needs, ensuring the exchange ofscientific knowledge, capturing and communicating medical insights,and facilitating research to advance clinical practice. This rolewill be focused on the Hematology (Myelofibrosis/Rare Disease)therapeutic areas.
Key Responsibilities:
This role will provide YOUthe opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career,these responsibilities include some of the following. Leverage scientific expertise and market knowledge to identifyand engage HCPs (including academic and community HCPs,Pharmacists, Physician Assistants, nurses, and other healthcareprofessionals) who may have educational needs and can provideinsights needed to inform medical plans. Engage with HCPs on emerging data, clinical trials, medicalunmet needs, patient barriers to access, market dynamics, andeducate on disease state and product information. Contribute to medical strategy by collecting and communicatingmedical insights throughout the product lifecycle and understandingthe potential impact of these insights. Demonstrate strategic territory planning and management andappropriate identification, mapping, and planning of scientificengagements in territory with key accounts and aligned with medicalstrategy. Support clinical trials by facilitating relevant medicalactivities and collaborating with Medical Affairs and ClinicalOperations colleagues. Collaborate with internal colleagues (e.g., Medical Affairs,marketing, commercial, sales) to ensure a customer-centric approachaligned with GSK Standard Operating Procedures. Understand and address the unique medical needs and attributesof accounts (e.g. educational needs, pathways). Maintain in-depth knowledge of assigned therapeutic areas andGSK medicines to serve as a medical resource to both customers andinternal colleagues. Understand the landscape and prepare toaddress educational needs of customers. Adhere to GSK’s Code of Conduct, policies and standards, andrelevant way of working documents. Ensure all activities areconducted in a compliant manner, reflecting GSK’s commitment totransparency, respect, integrity and patient focus. Execute all administrative responsibilities, training, anddocumentation requirements in a timely manner. Participate in Field Medical and cross-enterprise projects andteams that support Medical strategies and tactics.
MinimumQualifications:
We are looking for professionals with these requiredskills to achieve our goals: Doctorate level with a medical or clinical focus (Pharm D, PHD,or MD) or advanced science/clinical/healthcare related degree withrelevant clinical, industry and/or oncology experience (e.g., MSN,ANP, MS, MPH). Two or more years’ experience in pharmacology andpharmacotherapy in humans and has experience practically applyingthis knowledge in a Hematology focused clinical setting. Pharmaceutical industry, or clinical education, or medicalliaison experience. Experience engaging in peer-to-peer Scientific Exchange withmedical professionals and decision makers. Experience in delivering medical-based presentations. Experience identifying opportunities for medical engagement anddeveloping scientific engagement goals. Experience developing relationships with external HCPs, KOLs,and external experts and with internal stakeholders and keydecision makers. Must live within territory specified in this job posting. Ability to manage a large multi-state territory with 60-75%travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
If you have the followingcharacteristics, it would be a plus: Pharmaceutical industry or medical liaison experience. Previous clinical experience in situations where direct/orindirect decision-making authority for patient care wasdemonstrated (e.g., direct patient care, treatment protocoldevelopment, drug therapy guidelines development, traditionalclinical pharmacy practice settings).
