Facility in Jersey City, NJ JobDetails Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled MedicalLaboratory Technician for a 26 week travel assignment in JerseyCity, NJ. Required Qualifications:
One year ofrecent experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician Valid licensewhen needed in compliance with any state regulations
PreferredQualifications:
National certification through ASCP or equivalentsuch as
AMT, AAB, HEW
certifications Current BLS certification(AHA/ARC) Other certifications or licenses may be required for thisposition
Summary:
The Medical Laboratory Technician assists inperforming routine and moderately complex laboratory tests acrossmultiple diagnostic areas, including chemistry, hematology,microbiology, immunology, and toxicology. This role involvesanalyzing body fluids and specimens, ensuring the accuracy of testresults, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Essential WorkFunctions:
Perform routine diagnostic laboratory tests in areassuch as chemistry, hematology, and immunology Prepare and processspecimens for analysis, ensuring accurate labeling and handlingEnsure accuracy and reliability of test results by followingquality control protocols Follow standard operating procedures andregulatory guidelines (AABB, CAP, FDA, CLIA) Support theinvestigation of transfusion reactions by collecting and preparingnecessary samples Operate and maintain laboratory instruments,performing troubleshooting within scope Troubleshoot equipmentmalfunctions and escalate issues as needed Communicate test resultsclearly and professionally to other healthcare professionals Followlaboratory safety guidelines, infection control protocols, andhospital procedures Maintain detailed and accurate records of testresults, calibrations, and quality control measures Assist withinventory management, reagent preparation, and stocking labsupplies Perform other duties as assigned within the scope ofpractice Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection controlguidelines, and regulatory standards
Required Essential Skills:
Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonalcommunication skills The ability to read, write, & communicate inthe English language is required Ability to read/comprehend writteninstructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PCskills Physical Abilities
- Remain in a stationary position, moveabout, move equipment (50-100lbs), pushing, pulling, bendingInterpersonal Skills
- To work effectively with a variety ofpersonnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positiveattitude and professionalism Technical/Motor Skills
- Ability tograsp, fine manipulation, pushing/pulling and able to move aboutwhen assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment.
Mental Requirements
- Must be able to cope with frequent contactwith the general public, customers, and meeting deadlines underpressure. Must be able to work under close supervision occasionallyas well as working without assistance from other personnel.
