Job Description
Responsible for performing and reporting microbiology laboratory analyses from multiple specimen sources in an accurate, precise, and timely manner. Conduct specimen handling and confirm identification and specimen suitability using appropriate procedures. Recognize discrepancies in patient’s orders. Resolve and report problems and solutions. Perform and record instrument maintenance troubleshooting and quality control. Replenish reagents and supplies according to established protocols. Follow established reporting procedures. 1st shift, 7a-330p, requires a weekend and holiday rotation.
Must have Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in biological, chemical, physical or clinical laboratory science, or related and an ASCP categorical certification; OR Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Science program accredited by ASCP/NAACLS.Send CV to Sherry Bender, sbender2@geisinger.edu, attn Box TJ.
