Role:

As a Weather Balloon Launch Operator, you will be an integral part of our groundbreaking efforts to improve weather forecasting. Our weather balloons fly higher than airplanes and capture crucial atmospheric data, helping predict weather patterns like hurricanes, tornados, and typhoons. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to scientific advancement while working from your own property.

Key Responsibilities:

Host a launch site on your land. Store a powered shipping container and lifting gas on-site. Launch weather balloons daily following a prescribed process. Ensure accurate data collection and timely communication with our team. Maintain and manage the launch site and equipment.

Qualifications:

Own land with clear, open space suitable for small balloon launches. Flexible schedule – ideal for technically savvy retirees or those with part-time employment. Comfortable working with compressed gas cylinders. Reliable transportation. Excellent at following detailed procedures and processes. Strong communication skills. Proficient with basic computer programs, internet . A suitable launch site would have: No overhead power lines or trees 900 sq ft minimum, flat surface Calm winds, low precipitation or somewhat predictable windows of no rain, locations on the eastern side of Mobile Bay, such as Daphne or Fairhope, are preferred.
