ROLE PURPOSE

The purpose of the Microbiologist I role is to act primarily as a testing Microbiologist, focusing on performance of standard microbial testing procedures in the on-site lab to ensure the quality and safety of the product. A Microbiologist I may also perform and provide support for other routine lab activities or special projects as assigned

MAJOR ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Complete microbiological testing on samples received following site SOPs. Perform environmental monitoring at the site. Prepare microbiological media. Conduct quality control checks of microbiological media, including growth promotion. Operate and maintain lab instruments and equipment. Order, maintain, and inventory supplies for laboratory use. Aid in creating and updating site SOPs and other Controlled Documents. Aid in performance of laboratory investigations, such as environmental monitoring or out of specification investigations.

CREDENTIALS

B.S. in Microbiology or other related field preferred; OR Associate’s Degree in a scientific field with minimum of one year related laboratory experience.
