Visiting Research Faculty I, 12 Month Salaried – NHMFL 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars Tallahassee, FL Department The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) Responsibilities Join a team of world-class scientists and engineers performing cutting-edge research in extreme conditions. The National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) is home to the world’s highest power DC field user facility (DCFF). The unique mission of the NHMFL allows us to provide high magnetic fields for scientific research performed by users from a wide range of disciplines, including physics, chemistry, materials science and engineering. The DCFF is conducting a search for a new Research Faculty member (visiting) to join our team to work with other faculty members and technical staff towards the development and improvement of state-of-the-art measurement techniques. Emphasis will be placed on a candidate that provides a vision that would offer visiting research groups advanced experimental capabilities to characterize materials in high magnetic fields. The DCFF has an incredible atmosphere that promotes the design and fabrication of unique experimental probes and instrumentation through the support of our technicians and machine shop. The DC Field Facility has the need for additional personnel who are skilled in the fundamental measurement techniques of magneto-transport, magnetization, and susceptibility but all skill sets are strongly encouraged to apply and will be considered. Supporting users of the
DC Field Facility:
Provide scientific and technical assistance for users of the DCF Field Facility. Diagnose and repair scientific instrumentation, enhance existing experimental instrumentation and techniques, develop new measurement techniques and instrumentation, ensure users are conducting their experiments in a safe manner according to the MagLab’s Integrated Safety Management approach.
Collaborative research effort:
Establish & sustain scientific collaborations centered around understanding the behavior of materials using high magnetic fields with external and internal scientists.
Outreach:
Science communication, mentorship. Qualifications Academic doctorate or highest-level terminal degree from an accredited institution in physics, engineering or a related field, or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience and otherwise qualified to perform assigned duties.
