Medical Physicist The University of Miami/UHealth department of OHSC -Radiation Control has an exciting opportunity for a full time Medical Physicist to work in UHealth Medical Campus. The Medical Physicist (H) consults with physicians and cares for patients in hospitals, healthcare facilities, and clinics. Moreover, the incumbent performs and supervises treatments using therapeutic equipment, and resolves issues dealing with radiation therapy and diagnostic radiology.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
+ Monitors radiation output employed for cancer patients. + Measures radioactivity in the human body and uses medical imaging to examine a patient’s internal organs and metabolic rate. + Ensures optimal equipment performance and protects patients and physicians from radiation hazards. + Works with patients in a range of roles, explaining treatment procedures and possible side effects. + Works closely with doctors to add technical results to patient reports. + Evaluates changes to patient diagnosis techniques in response to new procedures. + Reviews existing local practice, advises on procurement of new equipment, and compiles reports to initiate changes. + Monitors equipment to ensure that correct and consistent results or outputs are achieved and ensures that ongoing maintenance routines are followed. + Drafts and develops policies for operating equipment. + Commences audit visits to hospital departments to check compliance with health and safety legislation, including decontamination routines, radioactive waste management, and radiation detection advice. + Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Certification and Licensing:
+ Valid State of Florida license. + Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.

+ Skill in collecting, organizing and analyzing data. + Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. + Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
