Description
Under the general direction of the Director of Medical Physics and physics staff, the Medical Physics Associate contributes to theanizational plan of the Radiation Oncology Department, to the quality of patient care, and supports the institutional vision and mission. The Medical Physics Associate coordinates, leads, and may develop multiple technical tasks within the Radiation Oncology department. The Medical Physics Associate has responsibilities to assist in high-level quality assurance tasks, radiation safety related tasks, departmental project coordination and mentorship of Medical Physics Assistants. Medical Physics Associates also strive to better current clinical processes to improve quality, cost and/or efficiency.
Qualifications

Degrees:

Bachelors.

Additional Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in a physical science, engineering or RTT.
Masters degree is preferred.
Possessing an understanding of clinical radiation therapy, clinical physics and/or dosimetry is preferred.
Technical capabilities with mechanical and electrical problem solving skills is preferred.
Above averageputer skills relating to operational software systems/networking and strong problem solving skills is highly preferred.
Experience in quality control/management and understanding of quality process improvement is highly preferred.

Minimum Required Experience:

5 years. Prior experience with IBA’s Proteus machine and RayStation TPS is highly desirable. Familiarity with Python scripting is also preferred. Additionally, an interest in proton therapy research, as well as publications and scientific presentations, is a plus.
