(Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center located in Jackson, MS .
Duties include:
- Engaged in the design, optimization and technical evaluation of radiation treatment plans as well as ensuring precise and accurate radiation dose delivery.
- Responsible for radiation protection of patients and staff.
- Provide advice or direction to technical staff when radiation treatments are being planned or when patients are being treated when necessary.
- Be present to observe and/or help supervise complicated simulations and/or treatment set-ups when possible.
- Specify and monitor method(s) to calculate MUs or treatment times and ensure independent review(s) of such calculations.
- Develop and maintain a method for the weekly and systematic review of the charts of all patients under radiation treatment.
- Dosimetry.
- Understand the calculation algorithm and should document those conditions for which the algorithm and measured data disagree by more than 5%.
- Provide consultation and advice as needed.
- Provide professional development of radiation oncology residents.
- Attend quality improvement and other staff meetings as required by Chief of Service.
Schedule:
Full-time, 7:30A-4P M-F. No call. Off weekends and all federal holidays.
Period of Performance:
Base 1 year 6/1/2025-5/31/2026 w/ four 1-year renewal options.
Qualifications:
Education . PhD or Master’s degree required. Board Certification. Must be Board Certified in Medical Physics or Therapeutic Medical Physics by the ABR. Licensure and certification . Current and active license with the Board of Licensure for Professional Medical Physics. BLS and ACLS required. Experience . PhD Level- must have 5 years of documented post-board experience after BC and 3 years of continuous work experience within past 5 years. Master’s Level- At least 2 years post BC experience and 2 years of continuous work experience within past 3 years.
English Language Proficiency:

Subject to background/security investigation. Must pass TB test. Complete an online onboarding process.
