Day Shift – 7.5 Hours (United States of America) Consults with the Radiation Oncologist and assists in the development of a customized treatment plan for patients. Assists in ensuring that complex treatments are properly tailored for each patient and monitors the patient’s treatment and records for quality assurance.

Responsibilities:

Creates customized treatment plans using 3-D computed tomography (CT) and IMRT to accurately deliver the Radiation Oncologist’s prescribed dos. Creates customized treatment plans using 3-D computed tomography (CT) and IMRT to accurately deliver the Radiation Oncologist’s prescribed dose to minimize radiation exposure to surrounding normal tissues. Correlates simulation radiograph with other diagnostic data such as CT scans to determine tumor and to target locations and transfers the information from CT to radiographs. Assists the Radiation Oncologist in the design of customized shielding to minimize doses delivered to non-targeted or normal tissues. Calculates the precise measurements and number of radiation beams for the equipment used in accordance with the treatment plan signed by the physician. Collaborates with radiation therapists in the setup of patients and the use of treatment aids as well as immobilization devices. Monitors patients’ treatment and records for quality assurance. Participates in weekly radiation oncology chart rounds for review of new patients’ treatment. Assist in the peer review of the Radiation Oncologist’s plan of treatment. Teaches dosimetry, simulations and treatment planning to Oncology Residents during their rotation through Physics.

Required Experience:

1+ years’ experience in therapeutic radiation therapy Master’s degree in physics, biophysics or medical physics with specialization in radiation physics. PhD preferred. Board eligible or board certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) preferred. Position is for coverage with vacation and sick calls

Salary:

$216/hourly
