Job Description We are seeking aleader with a track record of embracing and delivering on boldideas for leveraging data, analytics, and AI/ML to materiallyimpact the R D processes from discovery to delivery oftransformative medicines for patients. The best candidate for thisjob can advocate and gain sponsorship for investment inassets/technology that we license, partner or build. We need aleader who understands Takeda’s existing digital solutions andwhere Takeda can growth/enhance R D capabilities, and canidentify partners/technology to collaboratively build solutionsthat may not exist. The Head, Search and Evaluation (S&E), Dataand Digital Innovation, has domain expertise in data and digitaltechnology and the Pharma R D continuum. They have demonstratedleadership experience and creativity in their approach tointegrating the internal and external expertise needed to deliverimpactful solutions for R D. This Head S&E Data and DigitalInnovation will stay abreast emerging innovation in data products,advanced analytical technologies, product software/hardwareplatforms or digital health technologies. Takeda has significantlyinvested in Data, Digital and Technology (DD&T), and we arecommitted to transforming our approach to scientific discovery anddevelopment and improving the patient, caregiver and healthcareprovider experience through leveraging external innovation. TheHead, S&E, Data and Digital Innovation role will reside withinTakeda’s R D Center for External Innovation organization (CEI)and enable Takeda’s R D Data, Digital and Technology strategy,working closely with the Head, R D Data and Digital Technology,and the Global Data & Technology organization. This leader workswith the R D organization and the Head, R D Data andDigital Technology to define the

strategy andexternal innovation priorities to enhance our approach to discoveryand development, and the patient, caregiver and healthcare providerexperience. The S&E Data and Digital Innovation is responsiblefor proactively scouting external innovation opportunitiesconsistent with our strategy and geared to augment Takeda’sDD&T portfolio and capabilities. By collaborating with GlobalData & Technology leaders and internal SMEs, the S&E Lead willconduct or oversee technical due diligence activities to ensure arobust understanding of the potential risks and development ofmitigations for investment opportunities. By effectivelysynthesizing the risks and merits of potential investmentopportunities, this leader will enable cross-R Ddecision-making to ensure that Takeda’s DD&T platformcapabilities allow us to mitigate future challenges and maximizeeffectiveness.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct searchand evaluation of licensing or collaboration opportunities fromacademia, Venture Capital, medical technology, technology companiesand healthcare systems Triage opportunities in partnership with theData Sciences Institute (DSI), Global Data & Technology, andR D business sponsors Accountable for due diligence process todrive a detailed technical evaluation of potential opportunitieswith the business subject matter experts, develop value propositionand metrics and deliver recommendations to key governance bodies inconjunction with the DD&T BD Lead Point of contact with theexternal partner regarding technical-related matters Workcollaboratively with the BD Lead prior to and during negotiation ofany non-binding term sheet (NBTS) or definitive agreementCollaborate with BD Lead for the preparation and presentation ofbusiness case and other materials for senior management briefingswith support from R D functions Work with key internal partnersand cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication,efficient decision-making, to support completion of transactions ina timely manner Directly contributes to the development of the

strategies and leads the development of theexternal innovation strategy, to be enabled through BDcollaborations and licensing, and strategic investments. RepresentTakeda’s

Data and Digital Technology Basic Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a technical/scientific field such as DataScience, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering MD/MBApreferred Experience/consulting in data, digital and technologyinnovation across the R D continuum within the pharmaceutical,biotech or healthcare industries Minimum of 15 years post-graduateschool in Data and Digital Technology roles and 5 years in thehealthcare industry Demonstrated success in leading/managingtechnology evaluation and digital transformation initiativesespecially in an R D or innovation environment.
Qualifications:
Leadership experience in DD&T and healthcare industry Strongunderstanding of DD&T innovations serving drug discovery,development commercialization process and functions Deeplynetworked in the DD&T ecosystem Demonstrable S&E experiencein a broad range of DD&T areas within scope Ability to interactand communicate effectively with senior executive teams Proveninnovation driven leadership abilities in a biopharma environmentwith knowledge of pre-clinical and clinical R D A strongbackground of building successful internal/external partnership andcollaborative relationships in a biopharma organization,demonstrating cultural sensitivity and awareness Demonstratedability to lead and influence experienced professionals Ability tothink critically, creatively and to anticipate and solve problemsAbility to navigate and be successful in a fast-paced, highlymatrixed work environment Comfortable with ambiguity This positionis currently classified as “hybrid” by Takeda’s Hybrid and RemoteWork policy Leadership and Behaviors The Head, Search andEvaluation (S&E), Data and Digital Innovation is a thoughtpartner to Head, R D Data and Digital Technology, and R Dleaders to develop and refine the

The Head, S&E, Data andDigital Innovation must efficiently synthesize and efficientlyidentify the best opportunities that will help Takeda each itsbusiness goals and champion such opportunities within theorganization. The Head, S&E, Data and Digital Innovation is anambassador to potential external collaborators to ensure Takeda isperceived as a “Partner of Choice” while clearly communicatingTakeda’s areas of strategic interest and the company’s evaluationand governance processes. The Head, S&E, Data and DigitalInnovation is the accountable person to drive due diligence teamperformance and support final team recommendations. To do so,he/she must understand Takeda’s wider business priorities andactively seek collaboration across the organization’s complexmatrix structure. The Head, S&E, Data and Digital Innovationwill have excellent written and verbal communication skills andprovide the strategic and scientific rationale for proposedresearch or development partnerships and investment proposalssuccinctly and effectively to senior management. Base Salary Range:
$208,200.00 – $327,140.00 The estimated salary range reflects ananticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offeredmay depend on a variety of factors, including the qualifications ofthe individual applicant for the position, years of relevantexperience, specific and unique skills, level of educationattained, certifications or other professional licenses held, andthe location in which the applicant lives and/or from which theywill be performing the job.
The actual base salary offered will bein accordance with state or local minimum wage requirements for thejob location. U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-termand/or long-termincentives. U.S.based employees may be eligible toparticipate in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan andcompany match, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basiclife insurance, a tuition reimbursement program, paid volunteertime off, company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
U.S.based employees are also eligible to receive, per calendaryear, up to 80 hours of sick time, and new hires are eligible toaccrue up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
