A Research Scientist Lead takes on an emerging leadership role, managing a team of scientists and coordinating large-scale research programs. This position combines scientific expertise with leadership skills, driving project execution, fostering innovation, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Leads have significant impact on strategic planning and resource allocation, with high levels of responsibility and independent judgment. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens. Key Duties & Responsibilities Provides research and technical support to one or more Principal Investigators. Maintains accurate and clean E-notebooks with detailed procedures and proper analytical data attached. Compiles and maintains all data for compounds for the development of structure-activity relationships. Contributes to progress reports, publications and patents derived from project data. Collects and interprets analytical/spectral, ADME, and PK data, independently. Observes appropriate safety requirements. Designs, synthesizes, purifies, and fully characterizes organic molecules for drug discovery programs with limited supervision. Develops resolutions to an assortment of problems of moderately complex scope. Manages/supervises any contract chemists, undergraduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and researchers, as appropriate Special duties: Operates, maintains scientific equipment, and learns new instrumental techniques. Maintains awareness of current literature. Attends and presents regular progress updates for the assigned projects in a timely manner. Initiates possible new research ideas that may be put forth as potential proposals/collaborations. Contributes to the writing of proposals. Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary Range :
$94,375- $153,355 Qualifications Qualifications Doctorate degree in a related field and three (3) years of related experience OR Master’s degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. Preferences Degree in Chemistry or related discipline. Laboratory experience performing organic synthesis Strong synthetic organic chemistry background is preferred. Keen interest in understanding the application of medicinal chemistry principles. Ability to observe appropriate safety requirements. Advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and methods of analysis associated with the synthesis of new compounds. Competency in ChemDraw, MestReNova, Microsoft Office Suites products and other relevant software. Key Skills Proven ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Strong team player.
