RESEARCHER SENIOR
University of Alabama at Birmingham
This position will support the Transplant Division of the UAB Department of Surgery. The primary research focus is on spatial epidemiology and outcomes research in transplantation.
As a Researcher Senior, you will have expanded responsibilities, overseeing complex or multiple research projects and providing strategic direction. This professional-level role involves mentoring junior researchers, managing project budgets, and ensuring the integrity and quality of research outcomes. Your expertise will be critical in guiding experimental design, data interpretation, and contributing to high-impact publications. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research collaborator contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Conducts basic theoretical and experimental scientific investigations aimed at acquiring new knowledge in support of lab goals.
Prepares comprehensive documentation of observations, analyses, and interpretations, including technical reports, summaries, protocols, and quantitative analyses.
Operates as a highly skilled generalist or in a combination of related disciplines within the Research Function.
Provides advanced and specialized expertise, typically gained through extensive job-related training and experience.
Documents research findings that may lead to patent disclosures or contribute to technical and scientific advancements.
Leads or coordinates projects or teams, facilitating collaboration and proposing process improvements.
Solves complex, recurring technical problems by analyzing issues and delivering innovative solutions where precedents may not exist.
Performs other duties as assigned to support research and operational objectives.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
Degree related to science or a science discipline preferred.
Salary Range:
$60,835-$98,855
Qualifications
Education
Doctorate degree in a related field
OR Master’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
OR Bachelor’s degree in related field and four (4) years of related experience required.
Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
