Job Summary:

The responsibilities of the Research Assistant/Associate are research-related. Research
Assistants/Associates provide professional-level support related to research and creative activities that contribute to the mission of the CEDB, under direct supervision by the Director or Principal Investigator.
Examples of responsibilities
Serves in a research capacity for project within the university, which may include the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Performs tasks related to specific function/program assigned
  • Assumes responsibilities and assists faculty members in research and creative activities for a designated research area
  • Develops work plans in accordance with research objectives
  • Assists in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of data and/or research findings
  • Assists with development and evaluation of materials related to the scope of the research project
  • Assists in specialized administrative, technical, or editorial duties connected to research and creative
    activities
  • Prepares reports as needed
  • Supervises/coordinates participants for data collection
  • Supervises/coordinates scoring of project data
  • Completes other tasks as assigned by the principal investigator(s)
  • Works on supporting ongoing research grants and assisting faculty with developing new grant
    applications.

The department is building an applicant pool for temporary, permanent part-time, or full-time

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Skilled with organizing resources and establishing priorities
  • Skilled with planning, organization, coordination of activities
  • Skilled in the use of personal computer and related software applications
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
Position Qualifications:
  • Experience with issues pertaining to research and scope of research projects
  • Experience with higher education research principles and practices
  • Experience with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff and faculty
    Preferred Qualifications MS degree in marine biology, marine science, fisheries, or other related field.

Two years of water quality
monitoring or other field sampling experience. Ability to trailer and drive boats in inshore and nearshore
conditions.
