Description:

The IP Trademark Docketing Specialist will support attorneys and clients with trademark prosecution activities, accurately review correspondence, enter case details and due dates into the firm’s docketing database and partner with the IP Docketing Manager to manage and docket a large trademark portfolio utilizing internal and external resources. This position offers a hybrid schedule, providing flexibility to work both from home and in the office. In this hybrid position, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues both in person and virtually. The IP Trademark Docketing Specialist can be based within a reasonable commuting distance of any of our U.S. offices.

Key Responsibilities Include:

Follow firm procedures and risk management guidelines to perform a variety of complex duties. Analyze, review, and process all trademark correspondence, both domestic and foreign, including United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) communications. Docket USPTO and foreign trademark mail in the docketing system. Modify, add, and maintain docket records. De-docket pertinent deadlines. Open new matters. Create, modify, and generate docket and status reports. Process incoming file transfers. Generate and monitor daily docket of deadlines to ensure compliance. Respond to various requests from Legal staff and other departments. Ensure accurate entry and date calculation for case information. Ensure completion and verification of daily PTO submissions. Communicate with attorneys and staff regarding pending action items as needed, including the appropriate follow-up. Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

2-4 years of trademark docketing experience, preferably with CPI. Working knowledge of trademark docketing procedures, including USPTO and foreign practices. Advanced knowledge of the trademark docketing processes as normally acquired through training, education, and several years of work experience in the IP field. Ability to change and adapt to current and future responsibilities and circumstances. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment. Professional conduct, service-oriented attitude, and acute attention to detail. Strong oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Education:

Paralegal Certificate and/or Bachelor’s Degree preferred. This position may be filled in Washington, Illinois, District of Columbia , New York, Colorado or California. The base salary ranges for this position are listed below. These ranges may not be applicable to other locations. An individual’s actual compensation will depend on the individual’s qualifications and experience.
