RESEARCH ASSOCIATE I POSTBACCALAUREATE

The Research Associate I Postbaccalaureate position is a time delimited position for those with a bachelor’s degree and intending to ultimately apply for graduate or professional school. The role assumes the responsibility of performing basic, biological, behavioral, social science or public health research, enhancing their technical research skills and gaining research experience. Postbaccalaureate Program Position Highlights :

It provides technical and analytical support for various research programs across all Moffitt divisions The role works under the general supervision of a Principal Investigator (Pl) and may work as part of a team under the direct supervision of more senior lab personnel. Postbaccalaureate Research Associates participate in the planning, development, and implementation of original experimental procedures within the overall scope of the project.

Responsibilities:

Hands-on research experience, maintain laboratory equipment in a clean working order, including performing instrument standardization documented by written report. Responsible for the preparation of tissues and samples for study under appropriate supervision. Keep current with lab trends and techniques. Follow infection control techniques, for preparation, handling and disposal of all samples. Collects, annotate, and permanently record raw experiment data and document findings in a timely manner accessible to others on the research team. Works in a manner compliant with applicable regulations including the protection of patient records; apply standard quality control procedures to assure accuracy of test results; operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment; maintain supply inventory; prepare reagents according to laboratory standards. Responsible for data analysis using innovative procedures and protocols with supervision. Performs data analysis participate in meetings with PI and other team members to evaluate and interpret the validity of data and evaluate laboratory procedures. Prepares progress reports, write protocols, create presentations, and assist in the publication of research whether at scientific meetings or in the form of manuscripts. May monitor lab expenses and assist with budgetary responsibilities and may instruct and assist students and laboratory staff, as requested. Is expected to exhibit individual initiative, work independently; be technically proficient and accurate; effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations; initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures; and possess attention to detail.

Credentials and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Science related field is required. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Ability to perform accurate research methods and understand how to interpret the results.
