Research Associate 3 The University of Miami/UHealth department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Research Associate 3 to work at the UHealth Medical Campus. The Research Associate 3, SOM assumes responsibility for the design and performance of research focused on the development of novel experimental therapies for human malignancies. The incumbent contributes to collaborations with scientists within the University of Miami or elsewhere. Moreover, this individual works as part of a team and assists with the maintenance of laboratory equipment, protocols, and supplies. + Maintains daily operations and performs procedures related to new and on-going research projects. + Assists with ordering, purchasing, and maintenance of all required reagents and supplies for laboratory activities, and monitors and maintains inventory of supplies and stocks. + Assists with the maintenance of institutional biosafety and animal care protocols, laboratory safety records, and standard operating procedures. + Performs and assists other research staff with standard laboratory techniques. Develops, adapts, and implements new laboratory procedures. + Develops, adapts, and implements new laboratory procedures. + Records, organizes, and writes up experimental results for submission of manuscripts and for scientific presentations. + Keeps abreast of latest literature in the field and searches for references to technical problems. + Maintains current knowledge of the methods and techniques related to the specific field of research. + Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions The Research Associate Level 3 will play a key role in the Department of Surgery’s esophageal and gastric cancer research, contributing to projects involving animal models, human samples, and cell lines. Responsibilities include conducting experiments using immune-competent mouse models, such as tumor implantation, treatment administration, and tissue harvesting, while ensuring compliance with IACUC protocols. The candidate will maintain and culture cancer cell lines for in vitro experiments, including functional assays like proliferation and migration. Additionally, they will perform molecular biology techniques such as Western blotting, immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry (IHC), RNA/DNA extraction, and qPCR to analyze gene and protein expression, advancing research on tumor biology and therapeutic strategies. Core Qualifications + Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field( cell biology or similar) + Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in t he field of Cancer research or molecular biology

+ Expertise in cancer biology, molecular, cellular biology, or immunology. + Proficiency in animal handling, tumor implantation, and related preclinical research techniques. + Strong understanding of molecular biology techniques, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry (IHC), immunofluorescence (IF), qPCR, and cell culture. + Familiarity with handling and processing human tissue samples and biospecimens. + Knowledge of regulatory guidelines for research involving animals (IACUC) and human samples (IRB). +
