The Department of ISCI Laboratory Operations is currently seeking a full time Research Associate 3 to work in Miami. The Research Associate 3 supports research activities under the direction of a principle investigator, program director or designee of the principle investigator or program director. Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data, maintaining databases, etc… Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures. Participates in the publication of significant results. Advances expertise through continued education, training and/or research. Maintains an overview of relevant research findings. Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice and guidance. Primary Duties and Responsibilities (For Non-exempt Employees Include Percent of Effort): The Research Associate is the entry-level research professional position. Appointees will support research activities at the University. The Research Associate will understand and interpret research protocols and procedures. The Research Associate will work under the direction of a principal investigator, program director or designee of the principal investigator or program director, such as a Sr. Research Associate or above. Appointees are expected to use some creativity and latitude in performing research tasks. Perform a variety of technical duties involved in conducting physical, chemical, biological and other research laboratory tests and experiments to obtain data for research purposes. Conduct laboratory methods utilizing the latest methodologies in molecular and cell biology in support of sponsored research, review scientific journals, abstracts and other literature for information applicable to research experiments. . Assist in developing new methodology or expand existing ones. Recommend accurate or efficient laboratory equipment or procedures. Set up instruments, material and apparatus and operate laboratory equipment required for specific tests. Managing laboratory supply inventory. Following standard operating procedures (SOPs). Assist in writing and designing experimental procedures as required. Generate annual and monthly reports and presentations. Communicate with the PI or assigned supervisor regarding experimental data, laboratory or other work related issues Appointees will contribute to basic and applied research activities, participate in the publication of significant results, and advance their expertise through education, training and/or research experience. • Appointees are not expected to write extramural proposals nor independently to gain such support. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Work-related knowledge in tissue culture, molecular biology and genetics laboratory test techniques such as

PCR, DNA/ RNA

extraction, cloning of cDNA sequences, amplification of DNA sequences by PCR, and protein expression techniques, protein purification, Plasmid analysis by restriction digestion, protein gel electrophoresis , DNA Gel electrophoresis, Northern Blotting, Western Blotting, Southern Blotting, siRNA/DNA transfections, are preferred. Ability to work collaboratively with other employees, good organizational skills, and Excellent skills in Computer and English (both Verbal and written) required. Any appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience may be considered. Education Requirements (Essential Requirements): Bachelor’s degree. Work Experience Requirements (Essential Requirements): At least two (2) years of relevant work related experience.
