Job SummaryServes as a key collaborator to investigators,providing clinical and behavioral research expertise. Participatesin ongoing implementation science, quantitative and qualitativeresearch, and pursues independent and collaborative research.
Focuses on implementation science and also broadly contributes to avariety of activities including health outcomes, quality of life,and population health initiatives.
Job Specific Duties Designs and conducts research studies, such as personalizedmedicine, quality of life, implementation science, and otherpriority areas. Collaborates with other investigators in developing andexecuting interdisciplinary clinical research. Provides consultation to investigators and project coordinatorson clinical study design and development of researchquestions. Leads or supports the preparation of extramural grantapplications and contracts. Analyzes and interprets complex data for reporting,presentations and publications. Contributes to high level discussions with funding agencies andresearch teams within organization and with collaboratingorganizations. Makes decisions for day-to-day operations of projects includingthe resolution of technical problems and questions from projectstaff. Monitors progress of study activities (e.g. data collection andvalidation, recruitment, pilot studies, focus groups, etc.) andensures that study objectives are met. Collaborates with researchers, biostatisticians, datascientists, graduate students, residents and clinical fellows toensure progress of studies. Oversees data collection and direct data analysis bystaff. As a subject matter expert, trains and mentors researchers andtrainees in scientific writing including grantsmanship andmanuscript development.
QualificationsMinimum Job Requirements Ph.D. in epidemiology or related field 4-7 years of experience in a University or academic medicalcenter environment 2-4 years of work experience leading and contributing tomulti-site research protocols, grant and manuscript writing, andimplementing science initiativesKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience in healthcare research setting to include managementresponsibility Experience coordinating, implementing and supervising liverecruitment studies, including the preparation of clinicalprotocols and correspondence with the IRB, authoring consent forms,designing data collection tools and creating study trackingdatabases, preferred Knowledge of research principles, design and strategies, anddata interpretation methods Able to work independently in accordance with establishedobjectives Detail oriented, highly motivated, and committed to achievingexcellence in the form of productivity and publications Able to negotiate and manage time commitments andresources Able to acquire and maintain knowledge of systems anddatabases Able to develop and present professional reports andpresentations to senior-level audiences Able to develop and implement research instruments Ability to function in a team environment
