The University of Miami/UHealth department of The Miami Project has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Sr. Research Associate 3 to work at the UHealth Medical Campus.

The Sr. Research Associate 3, SOM (A) conducts highly specialized and complex research in support of the division’s research goals and objectives and assumes responsibility for the successful operations of the laboratory. The incumbent also supervises the activities of all laboratory staff and users and serves as subject matter expert and mentor to less experienced staff.
Core Job Responsibilities Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data.
Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.
Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.
Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.
Designs, evaluates, and implements methods and protocols for assigned research projects. Department Specific Functions

Technical Duties:
Operating Automation Equipment:

Manage and operate high-throughput screening (HTS) systems, liquid handlers, and other automated laboratory equipment.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of automation equipment to ensure optimal performance.

Data Management:

Collect, analyze, and interpret data generated from automated systems, ensuring accuracy and reliability.

Protocol Development:

Develop and optimize protocols for automated assays and workflows.

Quality Control:

Implement and monitor quality control procedures to maintain high standards in experimental results.

Managerial Duties:
Project Administration:

Process user requests, invoices, and other processes related to Core services.

Project Management:

Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to project goals.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage budgets for equipment, supplies, and personnel.

Administrative Duties:
Compliance:

Ensure compliance with university policies, safety regulations, and ethical standards.

Inventory Management:

Maintain inventory of supplies and reagents, ensuring timely procurement and stock management.

Documentation:

Maintain accurate records of experiments, protocols, and equipment maintenance logs.

Grant Writing:

Assist in writing grant proposals to secure funding for research projects and equipment upgrades. This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary.
Core Qualifications Master’s Degree in relevant field required
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

Ability to operate equipment and software for laboratory automation
Ability to interact congenially with users of the Drug Discovery Core
Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
