Job Summary
The Student Assistant will support the Public & Non-Profit Studies as a Research Assistant on the Statesboro Campus beginning Summer 2025. Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.
Responsibilities
Gathering, reviewing, monitoring, and updating relevant documents related to the research area, primarily media stories and reports (e.g., city, county, regional, and/or state level) Qualitative coding of gathered documents
Attending related local and regional events to observe and record outcomes and interactions
Research other related topics and provide key outputs like mapping, included but not limited to:
Co-operative research: documents related to electricity, water, and other types of regional co-operatives
Students will work on campus using computers with the required coding software for the project.
Shift Specifics
Up to 25 hours per week
Flexible with schedule of availability
This job is for Summer 2025 Term A, May 13 – June 13.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Education
In pursuit of an MPA degree or a closely related degree
Preferred Experience
Experience
Document coding experience.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
Research experience within a university setting Subject knowledge
Proposed Salary
$16.25 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
