Responsibilities:

The Research Analyst reports to the Assistant Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness. The Research Analyst is responsible for processing and analyzing institutional data including surveys and assessments as determined by the Assistant Director. Must be able to work independently to achieve timely reporting and interact productively with other offices and outside agencies.

Essential Functions and Duties:

Assist in the coordination of yearly program and department assessments. Administer the course evaluations each semester. Assist in providing customized institutional data sets and analysis for faculty, staff, departments and offices of Covenant College. With the help of the Assistant Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, manage and respond to requests for institutional data from IPEDS, the Common Data Set, and other agencies or organizations where institutional data is required. Assist in the maintenance and enhancement of an electronic institutional fact book and the development of an easily accessible institutional research website. Coordinate logistics of materials procurement and proctoring for freshmen assessment during Orientation and for Assessment Day during the spring semester. Coordinate external reviews of individual departments as needed.
Perform general administrative duties. a. Manage Institutional Research records for efficient storage and retrieval.
b. Monitor the Institutional Research budget and process requisitions and requests for reimbursements.

Required Education/Experience:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a research-related field. Intermediate to advanced level aptitude and knowledge of personal computer software with a special emphasis on Microsoft Excel and/or Google Sheets. Background and aptitude in science, technology and mathematics, or ability and experience with quantitative methods. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Demonstrated ability in problem-solving. Demonstrated ability in organization and attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Physical Work Environment:

This role is expected to be performed on campus unless otherwise directed or arranged for and operates primarily in a professional office environment using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other job-related technology.
There is a mix of standing and sitting for this role, however approximately 50% of the in-office work day is spent in a stationary position. Classified as light, occasional lifting or lowering an object from one level to another (includes upward pulling) up to 10 lbs.
Able to express or exchange ideas and conversation by means of the spoken and written word; needs to be fluent and conversant using the English language.
Generally, college hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Occasional extra hours of work (beyond 20/week) may be required as job duties or seasonal workloads demand.
Travel is not required for this position.
