Jul 18, 2025 The LSUHSC Cancer Center has an opening for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the project titled: “Calcium Channels in Obesity and Cancer”. This position offers an excellent opportunity for career development in a dynamic research environment at the intersection of ion channel regulation and disease pathophysiology. The selected candidate will employ cutting-edge molecular biology techniques to explore signaling pathways and investigate the role of calcium in obesity and cancer. They will continue ongoing investigations into the regulation of ORAI channels and their roles in various pathophysiological conditions, including obesity, neurovascular diseases, and cancer. The Postdoctoral Fellow will utilize both in vivo and in vitro models to shed light on the mechanisms underlying ion channel function.
Duties include animal handling, surgical procedures, disease modeling, engaging in independent research while collaborating within a multidisciplinary team, preparing manuscripts, contributing to grant applications, and applying for research funding opportunities.
Successful candidates must possess a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree and be able to work independently with high self-motivation. Prior research experience in fundamental cell culture, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques is highly desirable. Experience in imaging and working with mouse models is preferred.
