Position Information Title AY25-26 Graduate Access Fellow – Peer Academic Support
Position Description The Graduate Access Fellow (GAF) will work 10 hours per week and receive up to 15 credits of tuition and student fee waivers: 6 for fall, 6 for spring and 3 for summer. Position Overview
This Graduate Access Fellow, a new role proposed as a pilot program housed within the Graduate Fellowship Program, will provide academic support to fellow graduate students with various learning and access needs to help ensure success in their coursework. This new role may include thought-organizing, clarifying course concepts, and connecting students, both inside and outside their program, with resources, and is ideal for someone passionate about accessibility in education and committed to supporting their peers. Duties
Support students in organizing and prioritizing academic tasks.
Communicate regularly with students receiving support to understand their evolving academic needs and preferences.
Help students navigate and use assistive technologies or tools.
Attend the mandatory Graduate Fellowship Orientation in September
Attend mandatory monthly group meetings (date/times of these meetings will be discussed within the group) and occasional trainings with Student Accessibility Services
Participate in the spring Student Arts and Research Symposium, a requirement of all graduate assistants and fellows.
Track hours and services provided, and complete brief reports as needed. Preferred Qualifications Requirements
Be enrolled in at least 6 graduate credits each fall and spring semester
Ability to communicate effectively with diverse student populations in one-on-one and group settings, both in person and virtually
Willingness to work closely with other Graduate Fellows, faculty, and staff to contribute to a supportive academic community
Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Strong verbal and written communication skills and keen interpersonal, social, and organizational skills
Has a commitment to accessibility, equity, and inclusion
Experience working with a diverse student population
