Job Description
The Research Assistant (RA) will support the Boston Hypertension EquityAlliance in Treatment (BHEAT) study, a new clinical trial investigatinghealth system strategies to improve hypertension management in safetynet primary care clinics throughout Boston. BHEAT is funded by thePatient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) and includes afocus on reducing disparities in hypertension treatment and outcomes.
The RA will be a key member of a team focused on daily monitoring andprogress of the trial, and will interact with study investigators,project managers, clinical staff, and other research staff. Duties mayinclude a variety of research support tasks, which will provideexperience in the design and conduct of clinical trials, health systemsresearch, and health disparities research. The research team prioritizesa collaborative and collegial environment as well as emphasizingprofessional development opportunities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Partnerwith collaborators and study staff on oversight of studies, standardoperating procedure development and review, and data quality assuranceLead systematic literature reviews and summarize key findings Organizeand synthesize complex data from a variety of sources throughout thestudy as needed to support project progress Assist in development ofefficient study processes and organizational approaches Develop polisheddeliverables to convey progress and results of the study, includingreports, presentations, posters, abstracts, and manuscripts,contributing scientific insight based on previous experience andindependent learning on relevant content and methods
Administrative:
Assist with administrative aspects of the research study, includingmaintaining project records and handling routine communication needs ofthe project Assist with the preparation and maintenance of Data UseAgreements, Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications, and relateddocuments regarding the protection of human subjects? ?Coordinatemeetings between the research staff and research sites, includingscheduling and recordkeeping (The above statements in this jobdescription are intended to depict the general nature and level of workassigned to the employee(s) in this job. JOB REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION
Bachelor?s degree is required.
Master?s degree is preferred. Academic major in a field related to theresearch and an excellent academic record preferred.
EXPERIENCE
2+years of relevant research work experience required for candidates witha Bachelor’s degree. (With a Master’s degree, no research experienceis required) Candidates should have an academic and/or professionalrecord demonstrating experience and skills in analytical thinking and/orscientific methods. Candidates should also demonstrate skill inorganization, time management, and both verbal and writtencommunication.
