Prowler Water Conservation Systems Inc. is a family owned business that works in conjunction with local water departments to determine the sources of water system leaks. Our process is the most comprehensive in the industry, and offers our customers the highest quality leak detection in the area. We are currently looking for a per-diem employee to work on an as-needed basis. We work Monday -Friday 730-330 and can be flexible with those hours. We currently have enough hours to provide work for the hours shown, however this position is contingent on availability of work as that can sometimes fluctuate. This is why the work is per-diem as it will not be every day when the work load is lighter. Prowler Noise Research technicians work outside in the public way, riding self-propelled electric bicycles in roads, streets or sidewalks. You will be traveling over and near buried pressurized water pipes that are connected to Fire Hydrants, homes and buildings that have drinkable water being piped into them. We do not enter private property. We listen, with electronic listening devices, to contact points (usually Fire Hydrants) in a water system for the noise of a water leak. When noise is heard the technician makes note of the location and reports the location to a supervisor who will investigate further. Any leaks found will be reported to the proper authority to be fixed, thereby saving our precocious resource. We usually work in teams of at least two people. We travel from our headquarters, by car, to various towns and cities within a 4 state region but most of the work is concentrated to central New England within a 75 mile radius from Worcester. Workers also get the opportunity to work from their house as their starting point depending on the location of the jobsite. Work is weather dependent since we cannot work in the case of large storms that will stop normal outside travel, therefore the position is considered to be ‘part time’ since full time work cannot be guaranteed. Employees get the option of making up for lost days if weekend work is desired. The applicant must live within a 20 mile radius of Rochdale Mass in order to be considered. A qualified candidate will possess the following skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and employees Willing to take and pass a simple hearing test. Is respectful and courteous to the general public Understands the importance of personal safety Can ride a bicycle proficiently Can lift 50lb Can read and understand maps. Has a clean driving record Is inclined to physical activity and enjoys working outside Is solution oriented Has the ability to learn on the fly
