Summary:

The Mountain Lab of the MaineHealth Institute for Research (MHIR) is looking for a Research Assistant II (Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of related work experience) to join our team!
Research in the Mountain Lab focuses on Investigating the impact of psychosocial stress on bone metabolism and skeletal health using both mouse models and human epidemiological cohorts. The Research Assistant II will specifically work on projects related to how social isolation negatively impacts bone in mice.
Our Research Assistant II will conduct a variety of laboratory procedures under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator, Rebecca Mountain, PhD, or the PI’s designee. They may assist biological or medical scientists in the lab. They will set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, monitor experiments, make observations, calculate and record results, and maintain mouse colonies. This team member must be able to recognize problems or deviations in experimental conditions and notify appropriate personnel. They must also be able to master routine techniques and procedures relevant to the overall goals of the lab. The availability of this position is directly related to grant funding.
Excellent candidates with less than 1 year of laboratory work experience may also be considered for a level I position.
This position is based on-site at our Scarborough, ME research facility.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Experience:

Minimum of one year of relevant experience required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Research Assistant I
