This is an entry-level position to conduct laboratory or field-based data collection and analysis in biological sciences. Duties include supporting ongoing research, conducting research in collaboration with other personnel, collection and analysis of data, and writing reports. Work is performed under the supervision of a biologist or technical supervisor. The position will be located on the Hattiesburg campus, and some travel will be required depending on specific research needs. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Participates in scientific research efforts of moderate complexity, helping define the scope and objectives of the research.
Participates in the collection and analysis of data.
Maintains necessary research supplies and infrastructure, dictated by research objectives.
Follow all field and lab safety protocols.
Participates in the preparation of reports.
Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in biology, or related field, from an accredited four-year college or university. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Experience operating and maintaining laboratory equipment and instruments.
Experience executing and reporting experiments.
Experience operating and maintaining field vehicles and equipment.
Proficient use of personal computers and applications including Microsoft Office and statistical software.
The ability to take detailed directions and work independently.
The ability to be proactive, resourceful, and self-motivated.
