Position Overview Essential Job Duties We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Research Scholar to join our research team focused on the epigenetic regulation of plant reproduction and seed development. Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct independent research investigating epigenetic mechanisms governing plant reproductive processes and seed development.
Perform whole-genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) library construction and subsequent data analysis.
Execute plasmid cloning, Arabidopsis, pennycress, and camelina transformation
Utilize confocal microscopy and image analysis
Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary research team
Assist in mentoring and supervising graduate and undergraduate students involved in the project
Manage routine laboratory duties Other Work/Responsibilities Train new students, technicians, and to oversee laboratory operations
Requirements and Preferences Work Schedule Mon-Fri, 8am-5pm
Department Required Skills PhD in plant biology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, or related degree
Relevant laboratory experience and experience in training and supervising graduate and undergraduate research Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education Demonstrated ability to function as an independent researcher and proactively advance project goals
Experience with whole-genome bisulfite sequencing (WGBS) library construction and analysis
Proficient in data analysis, plasmid cloning, and confocal microscopy
Practical expertise in Arabidopsis, pennycress, and camelina transformation protocols.
Competency in basic plant care
Strong motivation to work in a collaborative team environment with a focus on high-quality scientific output
Experience mentoring and providing guidance to graduate and undergraduate students
Ability to manage standard laboratory duties Required License or Certification n/a Valid NC Driver’s License required? Yes
