Laboratory and Research USNH Employees should apply within Workday through the Jobs Hub app The summer Research Assistant (RA) will work in the Dao Research Lab within the Department of Agriculture, Nutrition, and Food Systems at the University of New Hampshire. The RA will support the implementation of an ongoing research project funded by the New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station. Responsibilities will include assisting the research team with the preparation of IRB documentation, recruitment of research participants, and data collection activities. Duties/Responsibilities IRB Documentation and Research Manual of Operations (20%)
Assist with the preparation and submission of Institutional Review Board (IRB) amendments.
Print and organize IRB-approved documents for use in study activities.
Update study-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs) and manuals of operation.
Research Participant Recruitment (40%)
Disseminate promotional materials (e.g., flyers, stickers) and maintain recruitment-related content on the lab website and Facebook page.
Support the research team in identifying, screening, and enrolling eligible participants.
Data Collection (40%)
Assist with the setup of equipment and materials at a satellite research site in Portsmouth, NH.
Support the collection of questionnaire-based data from research participants.
Assist in collecting anthropometric measurements in accordance with study protocols.
Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:
Partial or completed bachelor’s degree.
Required Licenses & Certifications:
Human Subjects Research certification
BSL2 training

Ability to follow research protocols accurately, maintain organized documentation, and ensure compliance with IRB requirements.

Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, including scheduling, participant tracking, and data collection logistics.
Team Collaboration:
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a research team in both on-campus and off-site settings.
Technical Proficiency:
Comfortable using word processing, spreadsheets, and basic data entry software; experience with REDCap, Qualtrics, or similar platforms is a plus.
Cultural Competence:
Sensitivity and responsiveness when working with diverse populations in community-based research settings.
Social Media and Outreach:
Familiarity with using social media platforms (e.g., Facebook) for recruitment and outreach purposes.
