Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of Jersey is seeking a part-time Research Support Associate for the Brain Health Institute within Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences ( RBHS). The primary purpose of the part-time Research Support Associate is to conduct behavioral experiments in Gerbils to study the influence of early and adult auditory and visual sensory experience on brain development and associative learning and adeno-associated virus gene therapy interventions to prevent hearing, visual, and vestibular dysfunction. Among the key duties of this position are the following: Train animals and run behavioral experiments to assess associative and perceptual learning in Gerbils.
Carry out post-experiment processing of brain tissue (histology).
Assist with microscopy and anatomical analysis of processed brain tissue.
Perform auditory, visual, and vestibular manipulations in neonates and adults.
Maintain accurate records of experimentation and research, assist with data entry and analysis.
Performs other related duties as assigned (e.g., assist in stereotaxic surgeries, maintain animal colony spreadsheets, carry out dosing schedules, help maintain animal colony). FLSA Nonexempt

Salary Details $20 an hour or more based on qualifications
Minimum Salary 16.00
Mid Range Salary 20.00
Maximum Salary 30.00
