About the Role Under the guidance of senior technical staff, you will support hands-on laboratory research and development projects that are directly advancing our breakthrough battery technology toward commercialization. You’ll contribute to the synthesis and testing of new energy storage materials and help accelerate Conamix’s mission to unlock the full potential of sulfur cathodes. As our technology rapidly scales from lab to prototype, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining the quality and performance standards that make our game-changing batteries possible. This role is based in Ithaca, NY, a vibrant small city known for its natural beauty, rich cultural life, and academic community. Key Responsibilities Synthesize novel energy storage materials using wet chemical and solid-state techniques for prototype-ready battery systems Prepare samples and conduct material characterization critical to our scaling efforts Formulate and fabricate cell components and full cells in glovebox or inert-atmosphere environments Follow detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for recurring experiments while supporting technology transfer activities Maintain accurate experimental records in lab notebooks and digital systems essential for IP protection and scale-up documentation Perform basic equipment maintenance according to SOPs and manuals Comply with all safety protocols and laboratory regulations Maintain confidentiality and adhere to company policies regarding IP and documentation Collaborate with R D team members on cross-functional project work spanning research through prototyping Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and high-performance lab environment during this critical growth phase Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support rapid technology advancement What We’re Looking For B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field Candidates with relevant lab experience in lieu of a degree are also considered 1-5 years of hands-on lab experience in materials synthesis or characterization Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately – critical for maintaining performance standards as we scale Familiarity with techniques such as SEM, XRD, IR/Raman spectroscopy
