Job Description
The Dow Chemical Company. Defines and conducts research on projects using advanced knowledge of scientific principles, theory, and experimental design within a scientific discipline. Develops and implement technical solutions through hands-on experimentation/problem-solving for research problems that are well defined with in a project area. Consistently applies the Scientific Method in the planning and execution of experimental plans and problem solving. Formulate hypotheses and develops experimental plans to test hypotheses. Keeps current with developments in relevant area of technology. Serves as a peer coach and provides constructive advice on projects within the team. Proposes project proposal alignment to business strategies and objectives. Modifies communication appropriately to both internal and external audiences. Demonstrates a working knowledge of team alignment with R&D and Business goals. Primary focus is on compounding of polyolefin resin for Wire & Cable, with a focus on material science, chemistry and processing for semiconductive as well as insulating compounds. Use both routine and advanced chemical characterization methods to assess experimental outcome, along with material characterization and process adjustment. Data analytics to inform experimental design. Consistently applies the Scientific Method in the design and execution of experimental plans and problem solving. Formulates hypotheses and develops experimental plans to test hypotheses. Keeps current with developments in relevant areas of material science, chemistry, compounding, energy and telecommunication infrastructure, and other related fields. PhD in Chemistry, Engineering, Material Science or related required. Telecommuting may be permitted. When not telecommuting, must report to worksite.
