Position Description
Advertised Job Summary Continue research and development of the perception,muciation and navigation systems of the autonomous surface vessels for maritime and oceanographic data collection. Additionally, development is required for a pontoon boat and land based, tripod mounted systems, consisting of cameras, radars and INS systems to allow collection of data of water surfaces (lakes and the littoral ocean environment) which is used to provide environmental measurements (surface currents, wave heights, etc). Documenting technical results, and presentating the results in project meetings and conferences. Assistance in proposal preparations, journal article preparation, and supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Phd in Engineering, Physical Sciences or closely related field with established experience in related research.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Phd in Engineering, Physical Sciences or closely related field with postdoctoral experience in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Sciences, or related field.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Hardware and software experience in developing autonomous marine systems. Experience integrating INS, camera and radar systems in the marine environment and using this data for oceanographic measurements. Advanced to expert level of Matlab and Python programming. C++ experience with small sensors and development expertise in ROS using Linux based systems and ideally NVIDIA edgeuting systems (e.g., Orin AGX)
Job Duties
Job Duty Design and develop perception systems for the surface vessel, pontoon boat and tripod-mounted systems. This includes camera, radar and INS systems using ROS or directly in Python, MATLAB or C++. Reliable collection of littoral data is required to be achieved from all three systems.

Job Duty Process and analyze the collected data and sensor readings from the littoral environment using MATLAB or otherputer languages. Identify and develop algorithms to analyze the data associated with non-water objects for anomaly detection. Identify and develop the time-domain and frequency-domain methods to process the oceanographic data for environmental characterization, such as ocean currents, wave states, and others

Job Duty Create technical documentation of the results of the projects. Contribute to the monthly report required by the project sponsor. Prepare slides, videos, and demos for quarterly project reviews. Present research oues in project meetings, seminars, conferences and assist in proposal preparation by creating new ideas and methods.
