Position Description
Advertised Job Summary Design, fabricate, and attach radar, camera systems and INS systems to a powerboat for data collection. Maintain and operate the powerboat in littoral environments that will be used to acquire measurements that are required for our research goals. Determine new sensor requirements that will aid in navigation in the littoral environment. Analyze data acquired using MATLAB or other programming languages.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Requires a master’s degree in area of research specialty.
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Engineering or related field
2+ years of experience using sensors in littoral environments, e.g., ADVs, sonar systems, etc. Taking bathymetric and flow measurements in bodies of water.
A strong history of scientific publications.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Programming:

(1) Scientific programming such as Matlab, C, etc. (2) Database knowledge such as SQL.

Skills:

Operate and maintain small motorboats and their engines. Fabricating using metal (welding, cutting).
Job Duties
Job Duty Design and build attachments for the camera, radar, and INS systems, as well as other necessary sensors for the powerboat. Develop SDKs to operate the radar, camera, INS, and other sensors for data acquisition in the littoral environment. Test the quality of these attachments and redesign them as needed or when new sensors be available.

Job Duty Maintain and operate the powerboat. Develop automated data quality assessment of sensor readings using MATLAB or another programming language. Createputer programspatible with edgeputing devices for real-time data acquisition and analysis.

Job Duty Create technical documentation of the results of the projects. Contribute to the monthly report required by the project sponsor. Prepare slides, videos, and demos for the quarterly project reviews. Present the research oues in internal meetings, conferences, and to sponsors.
