Advertised Job Summary Manage the growth, processing and test infrastructure in PML and the Extreme Chip Research Institute. Conduct the research work plan in the grants currently in place. Assist with the training and supervision of graduate student Research. Assist with the writing and submission of grants to Federal Agencies andmercial semiconductorpanie
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience Phd in Electrical Engineering or a related field with established experience in related research
Required Certification, Licensure/Other Credentials Preferred Qualifications PhD in Electrical Engineering with experience working with MOCVD wafer growth, processing, packaging, and testing of electrical and optical devices
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Strong leadership skills with experience in organizing and facilitating meetings for staff and other audiences. Ability tomunicate effectively with different audiences. Knowledge in research development, testing, and training. Effective writing and listening skills.
Job Duties
Job Duty Perform on the grants currently underway. This will include designing epilayer structures for the devices being developed under the Extreme Chip grants. Responsibilities will also include working with MOCVD systems to grow these structures and characterize them using X-ray, SEM, AFM, and hall measurements. Responsibilities will also include designing the devices and the mask sets for their fabrication. This will be followed by processing the micro-devices using photolithography, reactive ion etching, e-beam metallization, and finally, the flip-chip device packaging.

Job Duty Oversee student research work and thesis preparation. This includes training the students in the use of growth, processing, packaging, and test equipment. The duties will include assisting students with their data gathering and data management, and preparation of the research papers to be presented at conferences and for publication in journals. The Research Associate professor will also help students in preparing for their thesis proposals and formulating strategies for their research.

Job Duty Write proposals, and represent Prof. Khan’s research group at conferences. The proposal writing will involve generating new ideas for research, and developing a work plan based on addressing the research proposal calls from various DOD agencies and the National Science Foundation. Develop and submit proposals that can lead to new and independent research directions. Attend conferences w the Extreme Chip group is presenting their research work. It will also involve assisting and teaching students how to prepare conference and journal papers.
