Institutional Research Analyst
POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for research and analysis activities associated with gathering, processing and disseminating institutional information. These activities will provide decision support for the president of the college and her cabinet, for reports to the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC), for support of the NashGRAD program, for use in required surveys and reports and for providing information to appropriate internal and external constituents.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicates with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners to understand their data needs and how best to support their programs. Provides data and analytical support to the NashGRAD program to meet program and administration needs for the planning and assessment of program priorities and goals. Manages, analyzes and reports NashGRAD data in collaboration with NashGRAD program leadership.
Understands the available resources that can be applied to a question and work with the requestor to provide accurate and insightful solutions. Assembles and executes SQL code from the NSCC code repository to gather necessary data. Analyzes data to measure progress toward institutionally defined goals, to address on demand requests, and to fulfill required reporting to TBR, THEC, and IPEDS.
Assists in the development and support of data visualizations, including Power BI dashboards. Assists in developing appropriate data systems to support institutional planning and policy-making prores. Coordinates with the Technology Services Division to manage automatic processes. Prepares routine and on demand reports and maintains documentation for assigned projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree
One (1) year of work experience in highercation, data management or related field
Experience in data manipulation and visualization, utilizing Excel, Power BI, Tableau or similar
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree incation, social science,puter science or research related field
Understanding of relational databases and experience writing SQL queries
Experience with Microsoft Power BI
Experience in institutional research
KLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to analyze, summarize, and present data clearly, concisely and in appropriately useful forms to various constituencies. Computer skills with expertise using Microsoft software packages. Competence in the areas of data structures, data manipulation, and data visualization. Detail oriented with an ability to prioritize andanize project responsibilities. Ability to work with the diverse constituencies of the college. Kledgeable of goals, objectives, and operations of the college. Goodmunication skills, both oral and written, with an ability to translate technical issues for a non-technical audience. Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends
