Job Description
The Min H. Kao Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science invites applications for a full-time Postdoctoral research position. The successful candidate will conduct research exploring nanoelectronic circuit design and approaches to nano-enabled computing, with particular emphasis on hardware implemented using CMOS/memristor integrated circuit technology. This work will include circuit-level design exploration, verification tasks, physical design, and device/circuit testing. The successful candidate will work in a team of researchers focused on all aspects of emerging nanoelectronic computing, including circuits, architectures and software. Specific application areas of interest include neuromorphic computing and hardware security.

Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Take a leadership role in nanoelectronic circuit and system design efforts
Work closely with and mentor student researchers
Present results at conferences, workshops and other meetings
Publish in peer-reviewed journals on an annual basis
Qualifications
A PhD in electrical or computer engineering is required and experience in the following areas is preferred:
Integrated circuit design and verification practices
Experience using industry-standard VLSI design tools, this could include the Cadence design suite (Virtuoso, Innovus, Spectre, etc.) or similar
Ability to develop and use scripting languages for automating large-scale design and verification tasks
Experience using hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog, Verilog-A, etc.)
Programming experience using C/C++
Experimental device characterization and circuit-level testing
Though not required, an understanding of memristors and/or other nanoelectronic devices is also preferred, including experience developing and using compact device models for circuit simulation. A working understanding of brain-inspired or neuromorphic computing, including hardware approaches to machine learning, would be beneficial.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively are also required.
