Job Description
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratories of Drs. Girish Neelakanta (PI) and Hameeda Sultana (Co-I) in the Department of Biomedical and Diagnostic Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the laboratories of Drs. Girish Neelakanta (PI) and Hameeda Sultana (Co-I) in the Department of Biomedical and Diagnostic Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will participate in studying interactions of rickettsial pathogen, Anaplasma phagocytophilum, with ticks. The laboratories are well equipped and use multidisciplinary approaches such as microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, genomics, and cell biology to understand interactions of human pathogens with vectors and their mammalian hosts.
Qualifications
Highly motivated candidates with a Ph.D. degree related to vector-borne diseases, microbiology, gene regulation, microRNAs, and molecular biology are especially encouraged to apply. Successful candidate is expected to have good written and oral communication skills, work independently, and contribute to high impact and high-quality research work.
