Psychology Job Description Summary:
As part of the Affective Science Laboratory in the Department of Psychology, directed by Dr. Kristen Lindquist, the Research Associate will help conduct research on the neural, physiological, and psychological underpinnings of emotions and social behavior across the lifespan. This role involves assisting in the design and execution of studies, supporting lab operations, developing new research processes and goals, and collaborating with a dynamic research team. The lab utilizes behavioral methods, neuroimaging, and psychophysiology to examine emotional and social processing. Learn more about our work at https://affectivesciencelab.com.
Key Responsibilities:
Research Support:
Assist in conducting research studies examining the neural, physiological, and psychological aspects of emotions and social behavior. Participate in data collection activities, including working with diverse participant populations spanning different age groups. Prepare research materials and assist in implementing study protocols. Contribute to the development of new research processes and goals.
Lab Operations:
Support the lab’s daily operations, including maintaining inventory, supplies, and equipment. Assist in training students and research assistants on lab procedures and ensure compliance with established protocols and safety standards. Assist with the organization and execution of lab projects and activities.
Data Management:
Collect, organize, and prepare research data for analysis. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure quality control throughout the research process. Assist in preliminary data processing and analysis as needed.
Publications and Presentations:
Contribute to research papers, reports, and presentations for publication and dissemination. Assist in the preparation of materials for conferences, workshops, and other academic forums. Participate in various stages of publication work, including manuscript preparation and submission.
Collaboration:
Coordinate participant recruitment and data collection efforts in collaboration with external organizations. Maintain communication and provide routine updates to research collaborators and partners.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Required Qualifications:
At least 1 year of relevant experience required. Experience in psychological, biological, or neural science research, including manuscript preparation and conference presentation. Experience in lab management and maintenance/troubleshooting of standard lab equipment.

Salary Range:
$43,900-$57,750 •The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
