Faculty Job Summary The Department of Health Services Management and Policy at East Tennessee State University College of Public Health is recruiting for two (2) full-time Research Associate positions (12-month, non-tenure track) to support and advance its growing research programs. These faculty positions will be affiliated with the Center for Applied Research and Evaluation in Women’s Health. The positions are time-limited and funded by a research grant aimed at reducing unintended pregnancy and expanding access to reproductive health services. Successful candidates will be responsible for leading and collaborating on analyses of quantitative and qualitative data, development and implementation of analytic strategy, management of datasets, application of appropriate research methods, interpretation of findings, and maintaining effective communication with project leaders and key partners. The positions will contribute to research planning and dissemination of findings. Successful candidates will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team of investigators, staff, and research assistants. Priority will be given to candidates with demonstrated skills and experience in data analysis and scientific writing. Knowledge and experience in quantitative research and evaluation methodologies for the social sciences.
Knowledge and experience in qualitative research and evaluation methodologies for the social sciences.
Knowledge and experience in applying quantitative and qualitative research methods in complimentary ways that incorporate mixed methods best practices.
Demonstrated ability to use SAS, STATA, or R statistical software packages for data management and analysis.
Demonstrated ability to use NVivo or other qualitative analysis software packages.
Demonstrated ability to manage large datasets with data management best practice methods.
Demonstrated proficiency in scientific and technical writing and program evaluation.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to prepare manuscripts and evaluation reports for publication and dissemination.
Ability to coordinate multiple resources and tasks.
Possess strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work productively with multiple audiences including faculty, staff, and students.
Demonstrated ability to work as an essential member of a highly functioning research team.
Required Qualifications
Doctoral degree (or ABD) in public health/social sciences, statistics or a related field, or, Master’s degree with 2 – 3 years of work experience managing and supporting mixed methods research.
Previous experience and/or training in research methodology, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and scientific writing
Preferred Qualifications
Record of scientific publications.
Previous experience in a university environment.
