Job Description

Overview Kimley-Horn has a challenging opportunity for a full-time Historian/Architectural Historian in our Atlanta office. We are looking for a candidate who meets the Secretary of the Interior’s (SOI) Professional Qualifications Standards for Architectural History. Responsibilities Agency coordination for Section 106 Background/documentary research Field surveys for historic resources Report writing Applying criteria of eligibility Assessment of effects documentation Drafting memoranda of understanding/agreement Project scoping as it relates to the aforementioned tasks Solve complex problems, assist project managers, and collaborate across disciplines to produce our clients’ visions for the future built environment. Develop familiarity with the federal, state, and local regulations, as well as Kimley-Horn’s and our client’s practices, procedures, and standards. Qualifications Graduate Degree in Architectural History, Art History, Historic Preservation, or closely related field Must meet the Secretary of the Interior’s (SOI) Professional Qualifications Standards for Architectural History Flexibility to travel as required for project work Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple assignments concurrently Strong communication and organization skills as well as a positive attitude/support mentality A willingness to broaden one’s skillset and cross-train in other related disciplines to achieve greater utilization potential Additional consideration will be given to candidates with the following qualifications/skills: Combination of training and experience necessary to obtain a Georgia DOT prequalification in category 1.06b—History Transportation-industry experience Familiarity with State’s DOT Plan Development Process (PDP) and Environmental Procedures Manual (EPM) CAD operation skills GIS skills Willingness to temporarily travel to support other Kimley-Horn offices Why Kimley-Horn?
