The scientist will help create and test non-GMO citrus trees editing promising target susceptibility genes. This position will involve a significant amount of bench work. The position may also involve collecting field data and analysis. This scientist will be involved in tasks, such as cloning, plant transformation, agrobacterium transformation, protoplast transfection, molecular work, and disease resistance testing. This is a leadership position with a growing team in Tampa, FL. Qualifications PhD in plant sciences or related field with over 2 years experience Master in plant sciences or related field with over 5 years of experience Plant transformation experience Field data analysis experience Industry Experience is preferred About Soilcea Soilcea is creating CRISPR-edited citrus trees that are resistant to the citrus industry’s deadliest diseases. Two bacterial diseases, citrus canker and Huanglongbing (greening), are decimating the Florida citrus industry, having already destroyed millions of trees, cost the state billions in lost revenue, and reduced average yields by 95%. Soilcea has exclusive licenses to patents from the University of Florida to cure these deadly pathogens using CRISPR precision breeding.
