Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented Plant Care Associate to join our team in our RTP location. This role will support our team by assisting with plant production and plant care in support of our Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) and scientific team, with whom they will interface closely. The successful candidate is highly organized, comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment, and an integral part of a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary team. Excellent communication, multi-tasking, and teamwork will be essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Grow and maintain a range of healthy plant species through watering, propagating, sowing, transplanting, fertilizing, tracking, auditing, and monitoring of growth conditions
Routine cleaning and sanitization of growth spaces and re-usable plant propagation materials
Help develop, refine, and enforce, standard operating procedures for daily tasks
Assist in greenhouse setup, build-out and maintenance of automated irrigation system
Inventory and ordering of department consumables
Monitor, calibrate and operate EC and pH meters, and other environmental sensing equipment
Performing weekly water testing and environmental set point checks to ensure quality
Prepare and communicate reports regarding plant health and status

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in horticulture, plant science, or related field
Basic horticultural skills and 3+ years’ experience working with plants in a controlled environment

Additional Qualifications:

Ability to work weekends and occasional holidays as needed
A high level of initiative and good judgment, adaptive and quick learner, efficient in multi-tasking and troubleshooting
Great attention to detail, including a proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities and execute methodically
A strong self-starter with enthusiasm for science and willingness to adapt to the changing needs of a fast-paced research and development effort
Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a diverse interdisciplinary team
Strong organizational and record keeping skills
Strong understanding of safe laboratory practices
Experience working closely with a team and training co-workers
Experience with Microsoft Office and Argus software
Strong willingness to learn
