ENTRY SALARY

JOB SUMMARY
This position performs technical duties related to the care and management of animals. Feeds and waters shelter animals; administers vaccines and medications as directed. Cleans and disinfects kennels; prepares and cleans kennels for occupations. Washes food and water bowls and litter pans. Assists the public with animal adoptions and other matters. Processes animal intakes; examines animals for injury or illness; completes related reports. Performs minor facilities maintenances; paints, changes filters, replaces light bulbs. Collects litter and empties trash cans. Assists with animal euthanasia; maintains related records. Prepares cash for deposit. Scans animals for microchips. Vaccinates animals. Monitors animals in the shelter to identify animal health or behavior issues. Answers telephone and greets visitors; provides information and assistance; assists the public in completing adoption applications and other forms as needed; researches and resolves problems. Performs related duties. This position requires holidays and weekends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent. Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
