BIOLOGIST 1-3 – WILDLIFE HABITAT STEWARDSHIP – FARM BILL
LDWF is seeking to hire 4 Biologist 1-3 positions to work directly with Louisiana landowners to implement practices to improve wildlife habitat through the Federal Farm Bill. These positions will work closely with the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) within the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Service Centers statewide. Multiple office locations are available and will be determined upon selection of candidates. Employees will be LDWF Biologists/Foresters working as part of a cooperative agreement between LDWF and NRCS. Duties will include outreach, delivery of technical assistance, and assistance with program sign-up, conservation planning, implementation assistance, contract management, and check-outs.

A bachelor’s degree in a biological science, marine science, environmental science, wildlife or fisheries, animal science, forestry, or natural resources.

Job Duties and Other Information
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Work with private landowners to assist them in the successful implementation of habitat projects
Remain engaged throughout the implementation process to facilitate landowner success
Work to integrate, as a partner, into an established workgroup of another agency
Coordinate and support outreach events promoting conservation work. Deliver presentations.
Develop a working knowledge of local business models and how they apply to conservation delivery.
Remain engaged with conservation projects throughout planning, contracting, and implementation and check out processes.
Track progress and provide updates to LDWF staff and conservation partners.

If filled as a job appointment, there is a possibility that this position may be converted to a probational appointment should funding become available.
Current permanent status classified state employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if selected.
Positions may be domiciled statewide and will be determined upon selection of candidates. Potential Domiciles- Bossier City, Natchitoches, Ferriday, Colfax, Clinton, Ville Platte, Oberlin, and Many.
