Full-Time Are you a seasoned land planning professional ready to lead impactful projects and shape the future of development? We’re looking for a Director of Land Planning to drive strategic initiatives and oversee all land planning activities within our civil engineering practice. In this high-impact role, you’ll manage cross-functional teams, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver innovative planning solutions that exceed client expectations.
What You’ll Do:
Lead complex land planning projects from start to finish, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality benchmarks are met. Oversee project teams and provide leadership, mentorship, and support to ensure technical excellence and efficient execution. Maintain full regulatory compliance , keeping current with federal, state, and local zoning and land use regulations. Ensure quality and accuracy by establishing robust planning and QA processes across all projects. Allocate resources strategically—including people, technology, and tools—to optimize productivity and project outcomes. Partner with clients to understand development goals, present solutions, and ensure ongoing satisfaction as the main point of contact for planning efforts. Support executive vision by contributing to the strategic growth of the planning department within the broader civil engineering operation. Coordinate cross-departmentally to align land planning with engineering, design, and permitting teams.
Must-Have Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Land Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or related discipline. Extensive experience in land planning, preferably within civil engineering or real estate development sectors. Strong working knowledge of zoning codes, land use regulations, and planning standards. Proven track record in managing large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders. Proficiency in planning software (AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, or similar tools). Exceptional leadership and communication skills. Ability to manage client relationships and provide expert planning consultation.
