Description The 1898 & Co. Director is responsible for the successful sale and execution of management and advisory consulting engagements within the 1898 & Co. consulting services unit of Burns & McDonnell. The Director will manage and provide expertise to a team of consultants and analysts in the day-to-day management of project quality, schedule, cost control, contracts, subcontracts, proposals, estimates, and client relations. The Director will ensure client satisfaction through commitment, dedication, integrity, and overall outstanding service. Plan, organize and direct consulting projects, including the overall pursuit, negotiation, execution, cost, schedule, and quality of deliverables. Facilitate workshop sessions with senior-level client teams to understand client requirements, uncover needs and develop action plans. Leverage strategic thinking to anticipate client problems and provide innovative and impactful solutions. Liaise with clients, often as the first point of contact for all project-related communications. Liaise with internal and external subject matter experts for the pursuit and delivery of consulting projects. Compile, distribute, and present status reports, including project progress, schedule, cost, and budget impacts to internal and external stakeholders. Establish project teams, coordinate activities amongst multiple disciplines and ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff. Develop and contribute to training curriculums and materials for consultants and analysts. Manage the delivery of third-party vendors and subcontractors, including contracts, scope, schedule, and budget. Provide performance feedback to personnel managers for project team members as appropriate. Identify upselling and cross-selling opportunities. Ensure prime contract, subcontractor, and supplier invoicing is processed in a timely manner in alignment with agreements. Provide managerial direction and work assignments to consultants and analysts. Performs other duties as assigned. Complies with all policies and standards. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program and 13 years of relevant consulting experience. Master’s Degree MBA preferred. Excellent business acumen with proven success managing consulting engagements. Strong analytical skills with the ability to quickly and efficiently interpret large data sets. Ability to uncover customer needs, develop recommendations and deliver them persuasively. Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills. Strong understanding of financial concepts. Excellent planning and analytical skills. Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
