Job Summary
McLean Hospital is aprehensive psychiatric hospitalmitted to providing easy access to superior quality, cost-effective mental health services in the Boston area, Massachusetts and beyond. Since 1811, McLean Hospital has been a world leader in the treatment of mental illness and chemical dependency, research into the cause of mental illness and the training of generations of mental health care providers. McLean’s multidisciplinary programs treat a broad range of psychiatric illnesses across the full continuum of care. Conduct clinical psychology with patients using psychosocial techniques to facilitate more flexible and successful adaptation to the demands of psychological development and of the environment (i.e. family, school,munity and employment). Clinical psychology knowledge and practice incorporates a variety of models including psychodynamic, biological, supportive, cognitive behavioral, exploratory-interpretive or educational. Clinical psychology practice applies specific knowledge, theories and methods to assessment and diagnosis, treatment (individual, couple, family and group) and aftercare planning. This person has the responsibility to provide clinical services for assigned patients, as well as to participate in the activities of the program. He/She is encouraged to participate in other hospital activities includingmittees, teaching, and research. He/she should have demonstrated clinical experience relevant to the patient needs of the program.

  • Provides clinical services including individual psychotherapy 3 times per week, family therapy where assigned as family therapist 1-2 times per week and co-leads groups.
  • Maintains contact with family members as appropriate
  • Documents in the record by thepletion of treatment plans, patient encounter forms, appropriate progress notes, clinical summaries and other documentation in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Serves as liaison to other health care professionals including mental health practitioners and others
  • Provides interface with payers and managed care organizations through thepletion of timely and effective reviews and necessary authorizations for initial authorization for individual therapy cases and as needed during vacation and any other absence by Part time Utilization Reviewer.
  • Participates in program and hospital administrative activities (e.g. staff meetings, CQI, hospitalmittees, etc.)
  • Maintains awareness of medicolegal/risk management issues.
  • Participates in the hospital teaching and research efforts, including supervision of trainees and CRC’s as assigned.

Qualifications
Ph.D., Psy.

D. or Ed.

D degree in psychology from an accredited school of psychology. Licensure appropriate to clinical discipline. All employees must possess basicputer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems formunication, clinical and administrative purposes. Required toplete electronic medical records training, and demonstrate 80% accuracy onpetency test within 30 days of hire.
